It would be invidious to mention anyone in particular for this success, so many people assisted with the show in a variety of ways including setting up and running stalls, organising the events in the arena, the trips up the tower, children’s activities, putting up the banner, manning the car park and doing the “MCing” and sound. Not least, of course, were the horticulture show in the church and the very welcome refreshments in the church hall. This year’s Rose Queen and her attendants graced the day looking regal and relaxed as they carried out their respective duties.

No account of the show would be complete without mentioning those who provided the entertainment – the children from Deeping St James Community Primary School who entertained with djembe and samba drums, Linchfield County Primary School with their sword and country dancing routines, the Priory Youth Players with a performance of dancing just perfect for the occasion and members of the Bourne Grammar School Jazz Band who ended the show with aplomb! Without exception, all the performers excelled in helping to give the show a real carnival atmosphere.
An added attraction this year was the affiliation with the Town Council and its activities surrounding Deepings in Bloom, especially the competition for the most imaginative and unusual garden planter. (For further information, click here.)
And finally, the show would not have been half as successful without the magnificent sunny weather and the throngs of people attracted to this whole village annual event. Thank God for such a wonderful day!
