Life Events
As the Parish Church of Deeping St James, the Priory Church is here for all of the Parish of Deeping St James, for all of your special Life-Events. These services, sometimes called ‘Occasional Offices’, include Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals – but other important events can be recognised as well. Please contact the vicar for further information.
Baptism
Baptism (or Christening, as it is often called) is one of the ‘Sacraments’ of the church. A sacrament is possibly best described as a physical action which conveys a spiritual blessing, a gift of God.
If you live in the parish of Deeping St James, or are a regular member, you are welcome to seek Baptism at the Priory Church. If you live outside the parish, you are welcome to enquire, but you must seek the ‘goodwill’ of your own parish priest. Please contact the Vicar for further information
Weddings
As the Parish Church of Deeping St James, anyone living in the parish, or who regularly worships at the Priory Church has the right to be married in the church. Since 2008 they also have a right by virtue of having a Qualifying Connection with the parish.
Funerals
If you have turned to this page because you have lost a loved one, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Funerals are very complex to arrange.
Your first step would usually be to make the arrangements through a Funeral Director, but please feel free to contact the vicar.
